The Lantern

Letter from the editors

Hey friends!

It’s been so fun to serve as your editors for the 2023-24 school year! We were able to learn and grow in these roles, and we are so thankful for the opportunity. As we reflect on the year, we’ve realized how memorable being on this staff truly was. Our time has been full of learning experiences and team bonding.

One of our favorite memories was getting to go to Walter’s Pumpkin Patch as a staff and explore the community. We were also provided with the opportunity to tour the El Dorado Correctional Facility, and the education wing provided by a partnership with Butler.

Over the year, we drank lots of coffee, shared lots of laughter and met more last-minute deadlines than necessary.

As we bid the Lantern farewell, we are excited to pass the torch onto the incoming staff and leadership. We want to thank our readers for their support and contribution, as well as all of the staff and administration at Butler for answering (almost) all of our requests for interviews. We promise to never flood your inbox again.

Thank you so much to Amy Chastain, our advisor and our mentor as we have learned and grown as writers and leaders this school year.

Good luck on finals, happy graduation, and have a great summer!
