Butler adds a Second win

Butler was led by a strong rushing attack in their 37-21 victory over Highland Community College Saturday, Sept. 26 at the BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.

Butler came in having lost their last two games against NEO A&M and Hutchinson Community College.

The Grizzlies jumped out to a quick lead scoring 20 points in the first half leading 20-7 going into the intermission. Quarterback Tate McNew connected with Wide Receiver Markeis Barrett for a 54 yard touchdown pass in the first quarter along with a one-yard touchdown run from Running Back Isaac Covington late in the second quarter. Kicker Yusef Iskandrani also added two field goals in the half.

Highland responded after the break with a 37 yard touchdown pass from Quarterback Elijah Lewis to Wide Receiver Bryson Levidiotis along with a two point conversion run by Lewis to make the score 15-23 with 05:02 left in the third quarter. Butler responded with a touchdown of their own on a three yard run from Running Back Lucas Dickman putting the Grizzlies up 30-15 with 01:02 left in the third quarter.

Butler held their lead with a fourth down stand early in the fourth and holding possession for 09:56 of the fourth quarter keeping the Scottie offense off of the field.

The Grizzlies are back in action Saturday, Oct. 3 kicking off at 5 p.m from Emmot Field in Independence against the Independence Community College Pirates.
