The Scan and the Quill are the academic journals of Butler, giving both students and faculty a chance to showcase their work.The Quill focuses on the academic side of Butler while The Scan emphasizes the creativeness of the college.Both publications give students and faculty a chance to get their work published and develop their writing skills.

Butler Creative Television (BC-TV) is the student-run video production unit of the college, broadcasting everything related to the institution and local community. From athletic events to board meetings, working with BC-TV gives staffers hands-on broadcasting experience while also offering them educational financing.

On May 1 the Department of Mass Communications held an end-of-year celebration at Summit Park, El Dorado.All media students were invited to play games at the park, eat grilled brats and attend the department awards ceremony.

On April 29, SoPsyched, the sociology and psychology club for Butler, hosted an event on the Andover campus to raise awareness for people with autism.All Butler students were invited, and pizza was served to those in attendance.

Evan Sinclair, a junior at Butler, is a student broadcaster for the college’s only radio station 88.1 The Grizz. Every Monday and Tuesday, he comes on air as a DJ.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education is increasing. According to a study by Statista.org, 54% of college students worldwide were using AI to some degree in their coursework in 2024. This includes local institutions like Butler Community College.

Butler Community College is preparing to enter its 100th year of operations. To celebrate this milestone, Butler has designated the 2026-2027 academic year as the centennial year.

A blast of winter weather hit Butler’s campuses over the weekend of Jan. 23-26, covering everything in 8 inches of snow and hitting 6 degrees below zero Monday morning. Campus police and facilities were both involved in getting everything ready for the start of classes the following week.
