The Scan and the Quill are the academic journals of Butler, giving both students and faculty a chance to showcase their work.The Quill focuses on the academic side of Butler while The Scan emphasizes the creativeness of the college.Both publications give students and faculty a chance to get their work published and develop their writing skills.

Butler Creative Television (BC-TV) is the student-run video production unit of the college, broadcasting everything related to the institution and local community. From athletic events to board meetings, working with BC-TV gives staffers hands-on broadcasting experience while also offering them educational financing.

On May 1 the Department of Mass Communications held an end-of-year celebration at Summit Park, El Dorado.All media students were invited to play games at the park, eat grilled brats and attend the department awards ceremony.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education is increasing. According to a study by Statista.org, 54% of college students worldwide were using AI to some degree in their coursework in 2024. This includes local institutions like Butler Community College.

As of 2020, 86 percent of college students nationwide receive some type of financial aid - whether it be through scholarships or federal aid programs, according to usnews.com. This trend has risen considerably since 2000, up to 70 percent. While Butler Community College (BCC) is much more affordable than many schools, understanding how financial aid can benefit you has grown to be integral to affordably attending college.
