A letter from Ella Boozer, Editor-in-Chief, talking about the Spring 2025 Issue 2 contents and personal plans upon graduating from Butler Community College in May 2025.

As the 2024-25 academic year wraps up, it saddens me to say that this will be my final issue of The Grizzly Magazine. These past two years as Editor-in-Chief have been nothing short of amazing and I hope that the stories that have been brought to you are ones that have enhanced campus life. Since I’ve joined the staff, I’ve learned so much about Butler Community College and have received so much support from faculty and students for writing stories that are compelling and interesting to read.

With this being my last semester at Butler, I want to dedicate this magazine to all the people who have supported me and pushed me to be a great student and an even better journalist. To my parents Melissa and Wally Boozer, my grandparents Judy and Bruce Henry, and my mentors Amy Hornbaker and Matt Jacobs, thank you for expanding my career in ways I couldn’t have imagined – I’m forever grateful for the guidance I’ve received whenever I’ve needed it.

The Spring 2025 issue is a special one as it includes a tribute to Lindsey Fields. This tribute not only signifies her work and legacy at Butler but how she was seen by students and colleagues. We wanted to sprinkle in a few fun facts about Lindsey and her bubbly personality for everyone to read and learn who she was as a person. Additionally, my staff and I had the unique opportunity to interview Dr. Jackie Vietti, interim president. This was a fun story to write since it focuses on the qualities and principles that led Dr. Vietti to come back to Butler! Other stories include a story about a few scenic places for students to check out, photo galleries, and a video with highlights from Vietti.

To our readers, thank you for entrusting me to deliver campus and student life news in the form of eloquent designs and stories. It has been my honor to learn about each and every department, student club and organization here on campus. The Grizzly Magazine has built connections with organizations, such as the Redler Institute of Culinary Arts and the Oil Hill Reading Series, that have strengthened the power of interdepartmental and community collaboration.

After Butler, I plan to continue my education and journalism career at the University of Kansas to major in multimedia journalism and minor in photography.

For the last time, thank you and go Grizzlies!
