A blast of winter weather hit Butler’s campuses over the weekend of Jan. 23-26, covering everything in 8 inches of snow and hitting 6 degrees below zero Monday morning. Campus police and facilities were both involved in getting everything ready for the start of classes the following week.

It’s the time of year to say what you are grateful for and stuff your faces with food. Thanksgiving is the time to spend time with family and friends with laughter and stories from the past. Not a lot of clubs were able to do Thanksgiving dinners or lunches this year, but one club that did was ‘Campus Crusade for Christ’.

Dear Grizzlies, Welcome to a new school year at ButlerCommunity College. I am so glad you are here. According to the Kansas Geological Survey, over 1,000 earthquakes occur across the world. Over the year 2020, 260 earthquakes were in Kansas - about 50 of them in El Dorado. However, earthquakes under 2.5 magnitude usually aren't felt; that's why it doesn't seem that we're shaking constantly, as most of those 1,000 earthquakes fall below 2.0 magnitude. Structural damage doesn't even start until 5.5 magnitude - Kansas' two strongest earthquakes both peaked at 5.1 and 5.2.

As of 2020, 86 percent of college students nationwide receive some type of financial aid - whether it be through scholarships or federal aid programs, according to usnews.com. This trend has risen considerably since 2000, up to 70 percent. While Butler Community College (BCC) is much more affordable than many schools, understanding how financial aid can benefit you has grown to be integral to affordably attending college.
