Campus safety- Chief Williams on what YOU need to know.

Do you have the Grizzly safe app? No? Well, here is why you should!!

According to Chief Williams:    Chief of Police Chris Williams encourages students to download the GrizzlySAFE app, which offers emergency alerts to users. They offer emergency alerts systems; Students need to make sure they have their notifications on to see the alerts. Having these notifications on will let the students know if the school is closed that day. Weather-related or any type of major emergencies will alert students. The app has a campus map in case students get lost, The Grizzly App also has a list of support resources such as: Campus Counseling, Health Counseling, Sexual Assault help, Mental Health. According to Williams, Butler CC, the campus in El Dorado is not found in a crime area, and Campus Police use proactive policing to address issues with students in case a crime does happen. One common approach that Campus Police try to adopt is handling conflict by listening to students. According to Chief Williams, Campus Police do not just want students to think of them as a higher power but to also think of them as someone they can go to about anything, because they want students to be heard whatever conflict they have going on.

The size of the campus police ranges nine to 10 officers monitor, and the campus is always safe. The most common crime in El Dorado on campus involves drugs usage like marijuana possession
