On Tuesday, Jan. 28, Butler Community College President Jackie Vietti informed the campus via email about President Donald Trump's executive order. This order allows the enforcement of immigration laws that may potentially affect students, institutions, colleges, hospitals, churches, staff, families and more including Butler CC. If U.S. Immigration and  Customs Enforcement (ICE) has an order of detention, it may be legally executed based on the college’s legal counsel. Individuals can be taken into custody. Therefore, students are encouraged to contact Campus Security at 316-321-7675 if they observe any unusual activity. Butler CC is responsible for ensuring the students' safety and protecting their private information. 

Jean Paul Satre’s “No Exit”, and adapted by Paul Bowles, will debut on today at 7 p.m. and continue its run through Saturday, Nov. 23 with a matinee showing also at 2 p.m.  

“The Vice President of Academics (VPA) reports directly to the college president and provides innovative leadership for the college and faculty to ensure Butler’s mission is served…,” according to the Butler CC website.

As the negotiations process continues, the uncertainty over due process is gaining traction.
On Saturday, Feb. 3, members of the Butler CC Education Association (BCCEA), stood outside the Power Plant during a basketball game against Coffeyville, handing out information and spreading the word on their campaign to include due process language in the employee contract.

The Butler Grizzlies Women’s Basketball team hosted Northwest Kansas Technical College Saturday, Jan. 27 in what was anticipated to be a challenging matchup, but ultimately turned into a seemingly easy game for the Grizzlies.

There are many full time and part-time advisers at Butler CC. They work to help students fulfill class requirements for their majors. Even as they try to support student success, many students have received conflicting advice from advisers, leading to scheduling issues, specifically in the mathematics field.

Academic pressures can feel overwhelming for college students, especially when paired with the expectations and schedules that often befall a young adult. But Butler CC is committed to promoting academic success by providing services to students.

It’s the eagerly anticipated notification students await when they notice the weather taking a turn for the worse. They often stay up, wondering when they’ll receive that message saying, ‘classes canceled due to snow.’
