The No. 14 Butler Grizzlies defeated No. 18 Hutchinson 56-44 in their home conference opener.
EL DORADO, Kan. – The No. 14 ranked Butler Grizzlies dismantled Bethany JV 100-50 to head into conference play 5-0.
The Grizzlies owned Bethany JV from the start to finish on Friday night.
Butler (5-0) forced a whopping 43 Bethany (1-2) turnovers, capitalizing with 49 points off turnovers.
The Grizzlies went into halftime holding a 49-21 advantage, after leading at the end of the first quarter 24-15, allowing only six second quarter points.
Six different Grizzlies finished in double-figures. Jalyiah Manuel led the Grizzlies in scoring off the bench with 17 on on 8-12 shooting. Lousiana Tech transfer Elina Syniakova stuffed the stat sheet, finishing with 16 points, four blocks, two steals, four assists, and two rebounds. Ashley Singhateh added 14 points on an impressive 7-12 shooting, along with eight rebounds, four assits, five steals, and one block. Sophomore forward Kenzie Galliart had 13 points on five of 12 shooting on the night, along with seven boards. Destiny Smith made two of the three Grizzly three-pointers, and tallying 12 total points on the night.
Butler had 28 total steals on the night, also adding six blocks.
Next up: The Grizzlies will hit the road to begin conference play to take on the Coffeyville Red Ravens on November 19th at 5:30 p.m. The Grizzlies then will turn their attention to the Hutchinson Blue Dragons for their first home conference game of the season next Saturday at 2 p.m.
