CHANUTE, Kan. – The Butler Grizzlies won their eighth straight game after non-conference nine-inning win at Neosho on Tuesday.
EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler softball split a doubleheader with the Crowder Community College Roughriders on Tuesday from East Park in El Dorado.
This marks the third straight season that Crowder has taken game one of the doubleheader and the Grizzlies have taken game two.
Game 1 (5 inn.) – Crowder 10, Butler 1

It was a rough start to the day for the Grizzlies. Crowder got their first run of the contest in the top of the first inning. After Crowder's Callie Cooper was walked, she attempted to steal second but was caught in a pickle and the Crowder runner on third stole home. Cooper would go onto steal second. Later in the inning, Crowder hit a two-run home run to take a 3-0 lead. Butler got on the board in the second after Addison Chapman's RBI double brought in Karson Holson to score.
The Grizzlies were held scoreless for the remainder of the game while Crowder ended the game early with a 10-1 five-inning run rule.
Butler was held to just three hits in the game to Crowder's eight. Ellie Randall (L, 1-5) suffered the loss for the Grizzlies.
Game 2 (7 inn.) – Butler 9, Crowder 2
The Grizzlies got the bats going in game two, defeating Crowder 9-2 in seven innings. Crowder again got on the board first after an RBI double and later a solo home run to take the lead 2-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth. Butler would go onto score three runs in the bottom half of the inning due to a 2 RBI single from Kyler Demel and then Kate Free brought in Demel to score after an RBI single to take the lead at 3-2.
In the bottom half of the fifth inning, Haely Hagemann homered to left center to extend their lead to 4-2. That home run was Hagemann's third on the season. With the Grizzlies leading 6-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Emillee Stofferahn hit a three-run home run to left field to put the game out of reach and seal the 9-2 victory. Stofferahn leads the Grizzlies with five homers on the season.
The Grizzlies had seven hits on seven different batters in 24 at bats and were walked five times. Anistyn Marcotte started in the circle for the Grizzlies and threw 3.2 innings and gave up only four hits and two earned runs. Addison Chapman (W, 3-1) earned the win for the Grizzlies, her third of the season. Chapman threw 3.1 innings and gave up zero hits, had eight strikeouts, and walked two batters against 12 batters faced.
Next up: The Grizzlies will be on the road on Friday to take on the Colby Trojans at 1 and 3 p.m.
