Opinion: impact of athletics on campus life/college

At many colleges, college athletes in Division I programs create the strongest beats in campus life. Throughout history college sports have led students to show greater school pride and bond with each other. Student support during football homecomings and both team success and failure build deep ties among students that make up the heart of the college community. Throughout both highschool and college sports have played a big part in inviting students, families and the community to bond and join together. 

At Butler CC, many students are involved in sports, clubs and activities. Their impact on the college from participating in athletics has been effective to all and their leadership skills do impact the college and community around them. 

The University of Alabama, Duke and University of Michigan demonstrate that athletic programs serve as cultural unifiers for their broad student populations. The entire school community feels the school spirit which connects inactive students through their active classmates and their former and present educators. Many students gain leadership and integrity traits that can affect their friendships, relationships and their lives in college. 

Students gain specific advantages through their participation in sports. Student-athletes benefit from opportunities to grow while earning scholarships that help pay their college expenses. For regular students participating in athletic events helps them develop school pride and enjoy the school-community relationships. People attend sporting matches on their campuses not only to watch sports but also to become a part of school-wide social activities.
