At many colleges, college athletes in Division I programs create the strongest beats in campus life. Throughout history college sports have led students to show greater school pride and bond with each other. Student support during football homecomings and both team success and failure build deep ties among students that make up the heart of the college community. Throughout both highschool and college sports have played a big part in inviting students, families and the community to bond and join together.
Butler Community College continued their impressive day and season with a commanding 18-4 win over Garden City Community College after a 22-3 win in the first game. The Grizzlies’ offense was on full display as they piled on 18 runs, thanks to a relentless attack that kept the Garden City defense on their heels throughout the game.
Students balancing college classes with work make a minimum pay of $9 per hour at Butler CC, which does not match their job value or covers daily expenses. University task-based workloads give student staff members priority roles to help keep campus operations stable. Despite their valuable work, student employees receive among the lowest salaries on campus.

As Butler CC students prepare for spring break, they are finishing up taking tests, maybe even finals, finishing assignments and more. This is the spring break right before graduation for many at a community college or university even. Travel plans vary from going to somewhere tropical and hot like the beach in Florida or even South Padre Island Texas, which is a very popular spring break destination.
Recently, Donald Trump’s administration warned of funding cuts to universities over diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). On Monday, Feb. 17, the Department of Education (DOE) issued a Dear Colleague letter to universities and colleges explaining that they had 14 days to comply with the president’s order. During this timeframe, universities and colleges could no longer use race as it relates to decisions concerning admissions, employment and scholarships.
Lindsey Carter Fields, a professor of biology, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Carter was on Flight 5342, which departed from the Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport to Washington D.C. The Liberal, Kansas, native left many memories for friends, family and the Butler community, leaving a legacy.
The Butler Grizzlies had an amazing day, the women’s team continued their win streak 106-55 and the men’s team returnedto their winning ways by dominating the Independence Pirates on Saturday, Feb. 15 in a 118-63 blowout.
On Tuesday, Jan. 28, Butler Community College President Jackie Vietti informed the campus via email about President Donald Trump's executive order. This order allows the enforcement of immigration laws that may potentially affect students, institutions, colleges, hospitals, churches, staff, families and more including Butler CC. If U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has an order of detention, it may be legally executed based on the college’s legal counsel. Individuals can be taken into custody. Therefore, students are encouraged to contact Campus Security at 316-321-7675 if they observe any unusual activity. Butler CC is responsible for ensuring the students' safety and protecting their private information.
