At Butler CC there is affordable care on campus for students, faculty and staff. Students get free services provided at College Health and Counseling, located on both campuses. Student health is important, and many students can receive free counseling for their mental and physical well-being.
In the surrounding areas of Butler County, there are several (Thursday), July 4 activities and celebrations. On this perfect summer day, the spirit of patriotism and community pride was on full display as El Dorado residents come together to celebrate the 4th of July. From the early morning hours to the late-night fireworks, the city’s festivities provided a full day of family-friendly fun and American pride: an Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks Show on Thursday, July 4, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Events include a bike parade, youth wiffle ball tournament, turtle races, family games, water balloons, a dunk tank and an inflatable obstacle course at East Park, located at 100 S. Woodland. There is even free swimming from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the El Dorado Municipal Pool, located at 900 N. Taylor.

While some point to temporary disruptions in the supply chain or increased demand following the pandemic as causes for the recent rise in prices, others contend that long-term factors like expansive monetary policies and fiscal stimulus efforts are driving inflationary trends.
Butler Community College is extending a heartfelt invitation to El Dorado residents and surrounding areas to join them in the upcoming Wichita Heart Walk on Saturday, June 29. This initiative is part of the college’s commitment to stand in solidarity with millions of Americans affected by heart disease and stroke, including members of the Butler family.
Theatre events at Butler CC over the summer have more to do with maintaining and fixing performance space issues. A lot of cleaning and maintenance happens on light fixtures, sound monitors, and backstage/ storage areas.
In the surrounding areas of Newton, Halstead and Butler County, a rise of a tornado warned-storm with severe and high winds passed through on the night of Sunday, May 19. This unleashed chaos and destruction. Many residents woke up to scenes of devastation as the storm wreaked havoc on homes, businesses and infrastructure. Reports indicate that strong winds, heavy rainfall and lightning strikes were the main culprits behind the widespread damage. Trees were uprooted, power lines were knocked down, and some structures suffered significant structural damage. Schools got closed in Newton, many streets were blocked by trees, houses were even flooded and cars totaled.
“The Vice President of Academics (VPA) reports directly to the college president and provides innovative leadership for the college and faculty to ensure Butler’s mission is served…,” according to the Butler CC website.
